FAQ
Who chooses the points of interest and who writes the commentary ?
The POI are not provided by Internet users. The choice and commentary have been made by authors of Gallimard Guides, and double-checked by the publisher.
If I am from another country, will my operator charge me for access to the location data ?
No: you pay only once for the application. Location finding is done using GPS technology and an embedded map, so there are no additional charges for communication data. This is one of the big advantages of Smartcity.
How do I know the addresses aren’t out of date ?
Smartcity provides information updates 2 to 3 times a year.
How can I get an English version of the application ?
It’s on its way! To be released in Summer 2009, at the same price.
How do I know the maps are correct ?
The maps have been designed by Gallimard Guides mapmakers. They have already been tried and tested in Gallimard’s paper publications.
Locations are not always indicated with full precision ? What should I do ?
There is a small margin of error attached to the GPS technology used for location finding. This is not related to the Smartcity application itself, but to the technical limitations of your phone. We would advise you to change your position slightly and try again, or restart your phone’s GPS.
I’ve got an iPhone and a Blackberry. Do I have to pay for the application twice ?
Yes. The technology has been specifically adapted to each type of phone, to ensure it works as efficiently as possible.
When will the next destinations be available ?
Please go to the “destinations” section for information.
